We met at the Ramada Inn on Virginia Avenue near Hartsfield Airport.  Our guests were from the Transportation Club of Atlanta to discuss their organization and look at possibility of holding a joint event.  The TCA website is http://www.transportationclubofatlanta.com/

We had an exciting time with Dr. Thomas Cunningham, VP Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank with us.  He gave us a good insight to what actually caused the economic down-turn.  I (Larry Thomas) especially liked when he said the difference between an economist and a finance person, was that an economist would call the bottom of the bottom of the mortgages “toxic waste” while the finance person would call it “equity.”  Dr. Cunningham is always a stimulating speaker and a noted authority in the field of economics.  Watch for more information for the Atlanta NDTA Annual Golf Tournament to be held in conjunction.  We will not be hosting our Annual Golf Tournament in April, watch for upcoming news.

We had a great time with Representative Vance Smith joining us.  State Representative Vance Smith (R-Pine Mountain) represents the 129th District in the Georgia House of Representatives. Rep. Smith is the Chairman of the House Transportation Committee.  View Rep Smith's Webpage

May 2009

SPECIAL – We are joining the Transportation Club of Atlanta this month at a meeting they are sponsoring.  Thursday, May 14th, 11:30 – 1 at the Holiday Inn Select, 4386 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, 30341.  The cost is $28.50, RSVP at atcsignup@yahoo.com.  Per TCA policy, Please note that a reservation, unless cancelled by noon on Monday, the 11th, is a commitment to pay.  We hope to see you all there!

 

May is also Transportation Week and we plan to once again have representatives join Governor Sonny Perdue for the proclamation signing.  Last year, Chairman of the Board, Maj Gen (Ret) Craig Rasmussen: Atlanta Chapter V.P – Programs, Brian Waters; and State VP, Larry Thomas joined the Transportation Club of Atlanta at Governor Sonny Perdue’s signing of the 2008 Transportation Week Proclamation signing.
